HIGH PRESSURE OIL PUMPS

2004.5–2007 Ford 6.0L Power Stroke High-Pressure Oil Pump (HPOP)

The 6.0L Power Stroke diesel uses a high-pressure oil pump (HPOP) to actuate its HEUI injectors, just like the earlier 7.3L. However, the later 2004.5–2007 models feature a redesigned oil system that includes a different pump style and a problematic Snap-to-Connect (STC) fitting, which can leak or fail entirely — leading to hard starts, rough idle, or no-start conditions.

Upgrading to an STC fitting repair kit or replacing the HPOP with an updated version can drastically improve engine reliability and restore proper injection pressure. These upgrades are especially critical for tuned or heavily worked trucks.
